The Keiser University men's soccer team drew with St. Thomas 2-2 in a Sun Conference road game this evening. The Seahawks moved to 6-3-1 overall and remain unbeaten in conference play at 4-0-1.
Turning Point
An unassisted goal by
Amine Meski in the 62nd minute equalized the game at 2-2 after he broke free down the right side of the field and beat the keeper to the far post. Both defenses held tough over the next 48 minutes to end the game in a 2-2 draw.
How it Happened
- St. Thomas jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead just four minutes into regulation on a header by Pablo Gill off a corner.
- Freshman Aaron Molloy headed in his first collegiate goal in the 39th minute off a corner by Reece Weldon to tie the game at 1-1.
- The Bobcats needed just three minutes to regain a 2-1 edge when Kris Wilkinson headed the ball off a corner kick.
- Meski's goal in the 62nd minute was the final goal of the game drawing the contest at 2-2.
- Molloy had a shot sail just above the bar with under a minute remaining in the first overtime period.
Game Notes
- The Seahawks had not played since 10/1 because of hurricane Matthew.
- The Seahawks extended their school record start in conference play to 4-0-1.
- Weldon has now picked up a point in five straight games and ten of the eleven games on the year.
- Both teams had seven shots in regulation while Keiser held a 5-3 edge with SOG.
- Lee Clark ended the game with two saves in goal.
- Three of the four goals in the contest came off corner kicks.
