Men's Soccer Victorious Over St. Thomas 2-1

The Seahawks men's soccer team picked up their first victory of the year on Saturday afternoon at St. Thomas in non-conference play. Keiser University came away with the 2-1 victory.

St. Thomas struck first in the 15th minute for an early 1-0 lead but the Seahawks responded three minutes later. Emilie Huovinen played a ball into the box that Adil Lich buried in the back of the net knotting it at 1-1. Thomas Dawson tried giving Keiser the lead just before half, but his shot was saved keeping it 1-1 at the break.

The Seahawks took the lead in the 66th minute when Lich's shot was saved but fell to Shoval Failer who beat the keeper for a 2-1 advantage. Keiser held off St. Thomas down the stretch coming away with the 2-1 win.

Keiser held a 15-4 advantage in shots, 6-1 shot on goal, and 3-1 edge on corners. Failer led the way with four shots, while Dawson and Huovinen had two apiece. Vinnie Cainth picked up the win in goal.

With the win, the Seahawks improve to 1-5-1 overall on the year. Keiser returns to the field for the start of Sun Conference play on Wednesday at Warner. The kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
