The Northwood softball team dropped a nonconference doubleheader to Edward Waters on Sunday afternoon. The Seahawks fell in tough 5-4 game one and lost the second 5-0.
Game One
Cassidy Miller singled in the first inning scoring Shanah Thomas for a 1-0 lead. Katlyn Strauss extended the lead to 2-0 in the second with a single of her own. Edward Waters platted four runs in the in the fourth taking a 4-2 lead, but Alex Hartley got a run back in the fifth on an RBI single making it 4-3. A Miller sacrifice fly in the seventh tied the game at 4-4, but the Tigers walked the game off in the seventh winning 5-4.
Hartley and Miller led the way with two hits apiece.
Game Two
The Tigers platted two runs in the first and three in the second taking a 4-0 lead. Northwood looked to get on the board in the fifth when Alyssa Cabral singled but Meagan Flores was thrown out at home keeping the score 4-0. Edward Waters added a run in the sixth winning 5-0.
Nicole Lewis, Allie Catapano, Cabral had the lone hits for Northwood.
With the setback, the Seahawks fall to 14-24-1 overall. Northwood returns to the diamond on Tuesday traveling to Palm Beach Atlantic for a 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. doubleheader. In their previous meeting the doubleheader ended in a split with PBA winning game one and Northwood game two.
