The Seahawks softball team dropped a pair to Embry-Riddle in Sun Conference play on Saturday afternoon. Northwood lost game one in a heartbreaker 1-0 and the second game 7-2.
Game One
Anne Diercks was cruising on the mound holding the Eagles to three hits before allowing the game winning hit with an out in the seventh falling 1-0. Northwood had a chance to break the scoreless game in the sixth when Ryleigh Williams singled to left and advanced to third on a single by Cassidy Miller with one out but were unable to score.
Miller had two of the four hits, while Allie Catapano and Williams had the others.
Game Two
The Eagles platted five runs in the first before a Shannah Thomas RBI fielder's choice in the second made it 5-1. Williams pushed Kylie Waters across on an RBI throwing error by the catcher getting to within 5-2. However, Embry-Riddle scored a run in the fifth and sixth winning 7-2.
Alex Hartley and Catapano had the lone hits for Northwood.
With the losses, Northwood falls to 14-22-1 overall and 0-12 in Conference play. The Seahawks return to action tomorrow afternoon traveling to Edward Waters. The doubleheader is set for 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.
