The Seahawks softball team dropped a pair to Ave Maria on Saturday afternoon in Sun Conference play. Northwood fell in game one 10-2 in five innings, and lost the second 5-0.
Game 1
Northwood scored the game's first run in the first on an error, but Ave Maria tied it at 1-1 in the home half. The Gyrenes tacked three on the second pushing the lead to 4-1, when Allie Catapano doubled to center scoring Cassidy Miller making it 4-2. However, Ave Maria pushed a run across in the third, two in the fourth and three in the fifth winning 10-2.
Catapano led the way with two hits, while Nicole Granitto suffered the loss on the mound.
Game 2
The Gyrenes scored a run in the first, a run in the fourth, and three in the fifth winning 5-0. Alex Hartley had two hits, while Tara Coletti and Catapano had one apiece.
With the defeats, the Seahawks fall to 14-20-1 overall and 0-10 in Sun Conference play. Northwood returns to the diamond on Saturday, April 18 when they travel to Embry-Riddle. The doubleheader is set for 11:00 and 1:00.
