The Seahawks softball team lost a pair to Warner University on Sunday afternoon. Northwood lost 6-3 in game one and fell 3-2 in game two.
Northwood jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI single up the middle by Allie Catapano. Warner answered in the bottom half with two runs taking a 2-1 lead, and extended it to 3-1 after two innings. The Seahawks tied the game in the fourth inning with two runs.
Tara Coletti scored the first on an RBI single down the right field line and Kylie Waters singled through the right side knotting it at 3-3. However, the Royals regained a 4-3 lead in the bottom half and tacked on two more in the fifth winning 6-3.
Shanah Thomas, Ryleigh Williams, and Waters all had two hits apiece. Meagan Flores took the loss despite going the whole game.
In game two, Warner scored two runs in the second and one in the third for a 3-0 advantage. Northwood broke through in the fourth with two runs. An RBI ground out to third by Catapano made it 3-1 and a Flores RBI single through the left side cut it to 3-2. However, the Seahawks got no closer falling 3-2.
Anne Diercks went all six innings on the mound. Six different batters recorded a hit for the Seahawks.
With the losses, Northwood falls to 14-18-1 overall and 0-8 in conference. The Seahawks get back on the field on Saturday, April 11 when they travel to Ave Maria. The games are set for 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.
