Softball Lose Doubleheader to Webber

The Northwood softball team fell in a doubleheader to Webber International on Saturday afternoon. The Seahawks dropped game one 4-1 and the second game 6-1.

The Warriors scored two runs in the second and two in the third for a 4-0 lead in game one. Northwood got their lone run in the sixth on an RBI single to left field by Meagan Flores scoring Kylie Waters falling 4-1.

Rachel Dirks, Heimy Espinal, Jaime Schiller, and Flores had one hit apiece. Nicole Granitto suffered the loss on the mound going 4.1 innings.

In game two, the Seahawks took an early 1-0 lead in the third on a Cassidy Miller RBI single to center field scoring Ryleigh Williams. Webber regained a 2-1 lead in the bottom half and added a run in the fourth making it 3-1.

Northwood looked to cut into the deficit in the fifth with runners on second and third with one out. However, the next two runners were thrown out at home on a fielder's choice and caught stealing keeping the same 3-1 margin.

The Warriors platted a pair of runs in fifth, and one in the sixth inning winning the game 6-1. Williams led the way with two hits, while Anne Diercks took the loss on the mound.

With the defeats, Northwood falls to 14-16-1 overall and 0-6 in Sun Conference play. The Seahawks return to the field tomorrow traveling to Warner for a 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. doubleheader.
