The Seahawks softball team dropped a pair to Concordia Ann Arbor on Friday afternoon. Northwood lost game one 4-1 and fell 6-4 in game two.
Concordia scored four runs in the second inning for an early 4-0 lead. The Seahawks loaded the bases in the third but were unable to get any runners across. Northwood again loaded the bases in the seventh when Shanah Thomas walked for the first run making it 4-1. However, they got no closer falling by the final of 4-1.
Ryleigh Williams led the way with three hits while Thomas had two. Rachel Dirks picked up the loss despite throwing the complete game.
In game two, the Cardinals struck for a run in the first, two in the second and one in the third for a 4-0 lead. The Seahawks broke through in the third on a two run RBI single by Cassidy Miller making it 4-2. However, Concordia added two more runs in the fifth pushing back out to a 6-2 advantage.
Northwood loaded the bases in the sixth and Tara Coletti drove in a run on a single to right making it 6-3. In the seventh, Meagan Flores singled through the left side platting a run, but fell in the game 6-4.
Miller led the way with two hits while Alyssa Cabral chipped in two also. Katlyn Strauss suffered the loss on the mound.
With the results, Northwood falls to 14-10-1 overall on the season. The Seahawks get their Sun Conference season started tomorrow when they take on South Carolina Beaufort. The games are set for 12:00 and 2:00 p.m.
