The Northwood tennis teams defeated St. Thomas on Wednesday afternoon in Sun Conference Play. The Seahawks women took their match 8-1 and the men won 7-2.
Valentina Souki and Adelaide Wood started the day off with an 8-5 first singles win and Matilde Thibadult and Rocia Merlo followed suit with a 8-3 victory in second doubles. All six singles players won their matches with close wins by Thibadult and Livia Toth in three set tiebreakers.
The men took a 2-1 lead after doubles with the pairs of Martin Martins and David Uquillas winning 8-4 and Guilherme Cuhna and Ignacio Osse winning 8-3. Rafael Lenz led the way in singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win.
With the wins, the women improve their winning streak to five with a 6-3 overall mark and 4-1 conference record. The men stay undefeated bumping their record up to 8-0 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
Northwood women are next in action on Sunday when they welcome Nova to Gaines Park for a 1:00 p.m. match. The men return to play on Thursday, March 26 in Orlando taking on Wisconsin-Whitewater at 12:00 p.m.
