The Northwood softball team swept a double header against Cleary University on Sunday afternoon in Cocoa Beach. The Seahawks won game one 5-3 and the second game 4-3.
The Seahawks took an early 1-0 in game one after the first inning and extended it 3-0 after three. Cleary tied the game in the fifth inning at 3-3. In the bottom half of the inning, Northwood scored two runs winning the game 5-3.
In game two, Alex Hartley drove in two runs with a double in the first inning taking an early 2-0 lead. Cleary tied the game with two runs in the third (2-2) and took the lead with a run in the fourth at 3-2. The Seahawks regained the advantage in the seventh with Cassidy Miller and Allie Catapano back to back home runs winning 4-3.
Head Coach Chelsea Nowell said on the wins, "Today was a great day for Seahawk softball. The girls worked really well together today. Having the two home runs in the top of the seventh were big for us."
The Seahawks return to the diamond on Friday, February 27 taking on Davenport University. The game will be played in Clermont, Florida starting at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
