The Keiser University men's basketball team defeated St. Thomas 67-62 in overtime on Saturday afternoon. The Seahawks moved to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in Sun Conference play.
What Happened A back and forth contest with three ties, and four lead changes with neither team going in front by more than a possession until the 11:51 mark. Trailing 17-15, a
Stefan Zecevic layup started an 8-1 run capped by a
Deion McClenton layup to go in front 25-18 with 8:45 left. The Bobcats battled back, taking a slight 32-30 advantage into the break.
St. Thomas controlled the second half and led 52-44 with 5:31 left in the game, when a McClenton dunk sparked a 9-0 run capped by a
Stanley Whittaker basket to lead 54-53 at the 2:38 mark. The Bobcats quickly regained the advantage until there was 17 seconds to go and McClenton layed it in to force overtime at 57-57.
After trading baskets, a Zecevic layup started a 6-0 run to take a 65-59 advantage with 30 seconds left in overtime. Keiser held off the Bobcats down the stretch prevailing with the 67-62 victory.
