The Keiser University women's basketball team defeated Trinity Baptist 81-42 during their home opener on Monday evening. The Seahawks improved to 2-3 overall on the year with the victory.
What HappenedAfter falling behind 2-0, Keiser stormed back with an 11-0 run to take an 11-2 lead with 6:41 left in the first quarter. Both teams traded baskets, when a
Courtney Murphy three pointer closed out the quarter on a 12-0 run extending the advantage to 25-8.
The Seahawks started the second quarter on a 9-2 run upping their lead to 34-10 with 5:25 showing on the clock. Keiser went on to take a 38-17 lead into the halftime break.
Trinity Baptist hit a three pointer to start the third, but
Miah Shephard answered scoring seven points in a 10-1 run making it 48-21 with 4:13 showing on the clock. With the score, 66-33 in the fourth, a
Claudia Reque free throw sparked a 15-4 run capped by a Shephard three pointer to lead 81-37 and went on to win 81-42.

11: Limited the Eagles to just 11 field goals on the night.
15: The defense came up with 15 steals on the night.
31: Keiser offensive rebounds which were more then Trinity Baptist had as a team (28).

Reid Walling said, Obviously we were missing coach O but our players did a good job executing the principles she's been installing in them all year. We came out with a lot of energy, and dictated the game from the beginning with our defense and I am very proud of the way we rebounded the ball.
