The #2 seed Keiser University women's soccer team defeated #3 seed St. Thomas 6-1 in their semifinal contest on Friday afternoon at SCAD Savannah. The Seahawks advance to the championship game to face Thomas University tomorrow at 5:00 p.m.
The Seahawks started the scoring in the 15th minute when
Sofia Kristensson sent a ball forward and
Amanda Blixt got in behind the defense and beat the keeper making it 1-0.
Johanna Engberg made it 2-0 in the 23rd minute off a give and go with Blixt.
Engberg picked up her second goal of the half in the 38th minute extending the advantage to 3-0.
Louise Andersson beat keeper to the far post off an assist by Lindmark taking a 4-0 lead into the break.
In the 69th minute,
Beth Smyth played a long cross to
Renee Brown who then beat the keeper far post upping the lead to 5-0. St. Thomas got on the board in the 83rd minute making it 5-1 but Blixt responded two minutes later with her second goal of the game off an assist by
Johana Espinal winning 6-1.
Keiser outshot the Bobcats 19-10 and held a 7-2 edge on corner kicks. Blixt led the way with six shots all on frame and Engberg had four.
Felicia Sedell made five saves in goal.
The Seahawks improved to 14-2-1 overall on the year.
In the previous meeting of the Night Hawks and Seahawks, Keiser came out on top at home 4-0.
