The Keiser University women's basketball team took down #23 Tennessee Wesleyan 58-51 on Thursday evening. The win marks the first for Head Coach
Pam Oswald and move to 1-2 overall on the year.
What HappenedThe Seahawks started quick going on top 5-0 but the Bulldogs clawed back taking a 9-6 advantage. Back to back baskets by
Dominique Winbush and
Alasjia Dykes gave Keiser a 10-9 lead, but Tennesse Wesleyan ended the quarter on top 15-12.
Keiser fell behind 23-15 in the second, when
Claudia Reque scored five straight starting a 14-0 run going in front 27-23 with 1:31 remaining in the half. Keiser went on to take a 30-26 lead into the intermission.
In the third, Keiser led 38-36, when a
Miah Shephard three began a 7-0 run extending out to a 45-36 advantage with 1:02 showing.
During the final quarter, the Bulldogs got to within 51-46, but a
Desirai Smith jumper and Reque three gave Keiser their largest lead of 56-46 with 3:57 to go. The Seahawks held on down the stretch winning 58-51.
