Game Recap: No. 17 Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Blanks SCAD 2-0

The Keiser University men's soccer team shutout SCAD 2-0 on Friday afternoon in Sun Conference play. The Seahawks improve to 5-6-1 overall and 4-1 in Sun Conference play.

Richard Bezold had the first scoring opportunity in the 37th minute and Matthew Iles in the 39th minute but both their shots were saved.  Two minutes later, a header by Liam Gourlay off a corner was saved and Bezold's shot in the 44th minute was also saved keeping the game scoreless.

Late in the 44th minute the Seahawks broke though when Shoval Failer stepped up and converted a penalty kick going in front 1-0. Keiser completely dominated the first half of play outshooting the Bees 10-1.

Adil Iich doubled the lead just six minutes into the new half when he chested in a ball off of a corner taken by Thomas Dawson making it 2-0. In the 60th minute, Emilie Huovinen looked to extend the lead but his shot went off the post.

SCAD had a chance to get on the board in the 66th minute but Vinnie Cainth made a huge save on a penalty kick keeping the 2-0 advantage. The Seahawks defense did the rest to preserve the shuout.

The Seahawks held a 15-7 edge on shots and 8-5 advantage on corner kicks. Five players; Shane McInerney, Nicholas Guillden, Dawson, Bezold, and Iich had two shots apiece. Cainth made four saves in goal.

Keiser returns to the field on Sunday when they take on #8 Thomas University at home. The kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
