The Keiser University volleyball team dropped a heart breaker to Florida College 3-2 on Thursday evening on the road. The Seahawks took the first two sets before the Falcons won the next three.
Set OneFlorida College took their only lead of 3-1 before three straight errors put Keiser in front 4-3. After the Seahawks held multiple one point leads and three ties, a
Kelsie Kopicki kill started a 4-1 run going out in front 14-11. Florida College cut it to 21-20 when a
Chantelle Zamora kill began a 4-0 run closing out the set 25-20.
Set TwoThe Falcons went in front 8-2, but Keiser continued fighting using a late 5-0 run behind three
Nikki McKown kills and one by
Nicole Papineau knotting it at 16-16. Florida College responded going back in front 24-21 but a kill by
Megan Minke kill started a 3-0 run capped by her own service ace tying it at 24-24. The Seahawks held numerous one point advantages, finally prevailing 29-27.
Set ThreeAfter Florida College went ahead 3-1, a kill by Minke and an assisted block by Gida Victor and Kopicki tied it at 3-3. Keiser tied the match at 4-4, and 6-6, but the Falcons went out in front 12-9. The Seahawks got as close as 15-13 when Florida College took control going on to win 25-19.
Set FourFlorida College led 11-6, when a service error started a 5-1 run getting the Seahawks to within 13-12. However, the Falcons regrouped and went on to win 25-20 forcing the decisive fifth set.
Set FiveKeiser led 3-2, when Florida College scored the next three points going in front 5-3. Keiser retied the set at 7-7 on a Papineau kill and an attack error. However Florida College pushed back out to a 12-9 lead. A pair of Victor kills sparked a 4-1 run knotting it at 13-13. However, the Falcons held on winning 15-13.
Offense/DefenseMcKown led the way with 18 kills, while Zamora had 16, and Minke with 12. Victor had six blocks, and Kopicki chipped in with five. Papineau passed for 51 assists while
Morgan Leff had 35 digs.
Coming UpThe Seahawks fall to 14-6 overall on the year. Keiser returns home on Saturday for three matches at 12:00 vs. Florida College, 3:00 vs. Point Park, and 6:00 vs. Trinity College.
