The Keiser University men's soccer team defeated Ave Maria 3-2 in overtime on
Adil Iich game winner in the 98th minute. With the win, the Seahawks improve to 4-6-1 overall, and 3-1 in Sun Conference play.
Ave Maria struck first in the 15th minute but the Seahawks found the equalizer three minutes later on a
Shoval Failer unassisted goal. Iich in the 22nd and
Oscar Petersson in the 25th minutes had scoring chances to put Keiser in front but their shots were saved, keeping it 1-1 heading into the half.
The Seahawks had the first scoring opportunity of the new half in the 64th minute but
Richard Bezold shot was saved. In the 79th minute
Nicholas Guillen shot was saved but
Jesse Alves beat the keeper in the 86th minute off an assist by
Emilie Huovinen going in front 2-1. However, the Gyrenes retied the game just 29 seconds later sending the game into overtime.
In the 98th minute Iich notched the game winner off an assist by Failer winning 3-2. Keiser outshot their opponents 13-9 and held a 7-0 advantage in corners.
Iich led the way with three shots, while Failer and Guillen had two shots apiece.
Luke Edgecombe picked up the win in goal making four saves.
The Seahawks return to action on Friday at home against SCAD Savannah. The kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
