Men's Soccer Defeats Florida Memorial 2-1 on Senior Day

The Seahawks men's soccer team used a late goal to defeat Florida Memorial 2-1 on senior day. Keiser honored Luke Edgecombe, Tommy Tigwell, Shane McInerney, Liam Gourlay, Charlie Aversund, Evan Power, Matthew Iles, Emil Huovinen, Vinnie Cainth, and Richard Bezold.

Florida Memorial scored the opening goal in the 27th minute off a long through ball to lead 1-0. Jesse Alves got the equalizer in the 35th minute off a cross by Huovinen making it 1-1. The game remained tied heading into the break with the Lions holding an 8-2 edge on shots.

A defensive battle was the theme of the second half until Huovinen put the Seahawks in front 2-1 off an assist by Jaime Segura in the 84th minute. Cainth and the back four held tight during the final four minutes coming away with the victory.

The Lions outshot Keiser 14-6, but the Seahawks had a 7-2 edge on corners. Adil Iich and Alves led the way with two shots apiece. Cainth picked up the win goal making three saves.

Keiser improved to 6-9-1 overall and 5-3 in Sun Conference play with the victory. The Seahawks conclude the regular season on Wednesday traveling to Johnson & Wales. The kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m.
