The Keiser University volleyball team knocked off Webber International 3-1 on Friday evening in Sun Conference play. The Seahawks improved to 19-8 overall and 4-3 in Sun Conference play with the victory.
Set OneWebber jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Keiser tied it up at 4-4. The Seahawks trailed 8-5 when a
Nikki McKown kill started a 5-0 run taking their first lead of 10-8. The Warriors won the next three points retaking an 11-10 lead, but four straight
Chantelle Zamora kills began a 7-0 run putting Keiser back in front 17-11. Webber got no closer than four down the stretch with the Seahawks winning 25-18.
Set TwoKeiser came out of the gate quick taking a 10-1 advantage behind three service aces of
Megan Minke and two kills by
Kelsie Kopicki. The Seahawks continued cruising coming away with a 25-14 victory.
Set ThreeThe Warriors led 12-5 when a ball handling error started a 4-1 run capped by a Minke kill getting to within 13-9. Webber regrouped and continued to lead at 23-15 when the Seahawks attempted a late rally. A Zamora kill started a 5-1 run capped by a Minke kill cutting the deficit to 24-19 but got no closer falling 25-19.
Set FourKeiser scored the first three points and extended their lead to 5-3, when Webber took their first lead at 6-5. A Zamora kill followed beginning an 8-2 run putting the Seahawks in front 14-9. Webber continued chipping away getting to within 21-19 when kills by Minke,
Gida Victor, and Kopicki extended the lead back out to 24-19. Keiser went on to win 25-20.
Offense/DefenseZamora led the way with 14 kills, while Minke had 12.
Nicole Papineau had a match high 34 assists. McKown had 22 digs and Papineau had two blocks.
