Seahawks Women's Soccer Falls 2-0 to Embry-Riddle

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The No. 14 Northwood University (Fla.) women's soccer team fell 2-0 in the Sun Conference regular season championship game against No. 1 Embry-Riddle on Wednesday.

The Lady Seahawks, which finished in first place in the South Division, were unable to generate enough offense in the two meetings against the Eagles this season.

The Lady Seahawks dropped a 2-0 decision early in the season on August 23 to the Eagles in an away match and also fell by the same margin at home.

The loss snapped a 10-game win streak for the Seahawks and an unbeaten streak of 13 consecutive games.

The Lady Seahawks were dealt a loss for the first time since September 6.

Embry-Riddle received an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament with the victory.

The Lady Seahawks(12-5-2, 9-0) will hold the No. 1 seed in the seven-team conference tournament and receive a bye past the quarterfinal round.

Quarterfinal play begins in November 6 and the tournament championship will take place on November 14.

SCAD Savannah (11-6, 7-2) will be the No. 2 seed, followed by No. 3 Thomas (10-7, 6-3), No. 4 Southeastern (9-6-1, 4-4-1) and No. 5 Webber International (5-8-1, 3-5-1). Johnson & Wales (3-8-4, 2-4-3) and South Carolina Beaufort are the final two seeds.
 
The winner of the conference championship game will receive a bid to the NAIA National Tournament.

The Lady Seahawks women's soccer team will return to action to host the Sun Conference semifinals on Saturday, November 8  at 12 p.m. against the winner of the game between Webber International and Southeastern.
