Dante Calabria

Dante Calabria became the second Head Coach of the Seahawks Men’s Basketball program in 2017 and led the team to a 20-11 overall record and a trip to the NAIA National Tournament in his first year.

2018
  • Led the Seahawks to a 20-11 overall record and a 13-5 mark in conference play along with an appearance in the NAIA National Tournament
  • Keiser finished as the runner-up during the regular season and advanced to the TSC championship game
  • Guided McClenton to being named the Sun Conference Player of the Year, a finalist for the Bevo Francis Award, and a First Team All-American
  • Four Seahawks were named to the All-Sun Conference team including two on the First Team and two on the Second Team
  • Highest ranking of the season came on January 22 when the squad reached the No. 19 spot in the polls
  • Keiser ranked second in assists per game (19.41), defensive rebounds per game (31.67), third in defensive field goal percentage (39.7), fourth in blocks per game (4.54), and fifth in total rebounds per game (42.77), total blocks (141) and three-point percentage (40.1)
  • Pratapas led the country in three-point shooting at 53.5 percent
  • Endured a season-best 11 game winning streak
 
Pre-Keiser
Prior to Keiser, Calabria was the head coach at Cus Jonico Taranto of the Italian Basketball league, and Montverde Academy Prep. He has also served as an assistant at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
 
Playing Career
Calabria enjoyed a four year career with North Carolina playing under Dean Smith. During his time, he was a member of the 1993 NCAA Championship team. Calabria was also a part of two Final Four teams (1993 and 1995) and competed in three Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament Championship games, winning the title in 1994. As a senior, he earned Third-Team All-ACC honors.

After graduation, Calabria spent 16 years as a professional basketball player in Italy, Spain, Greece, and France. He was also a member of the Italian National team.

Calabria earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from UNC.
