WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Keiser University softball team completed a Sun Conference sweep of Warner on Saturday at Alumni Field, run-ruling the Royals 14-1 in five innings in the opener before holding on for an 8-2 victory in the nightcap to improve to 28-2 on the season.
Game One was over in a hurry. Keiser plated three runs in each of the first two innings and then blew the game open with six more in the third, sending Warner scrambling and triggering the run rule after five innings. Faith Campos was brilliant at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored to pace the attack. Kaci Kidd added three hits and scored three times, and Macy Schaaf went 2-for-2 with three RBI and two stolen bases out of the middle of the lineup. Olivia Shoemaker provided the big blow of the game, launching a home run and driving in a run to go along with a double in just two at-bats. Lanie Macicek added two hits and scored twice as well, while Sarah Phipps and Kylie White each chipped in RBI. Mackenzie Masternak started and worked three dominant innings before Olivia Solerno and Presley Wright combined to finish it off.
The nightcap was a tighter contest, but Keiser had answers every time Warner pushed. The Royals scored once in the first inning but Keiser answered right back with three in the bottom half to take a lead they would not give up for good. Warner added a run in the fourth to pull within two, but a four-run Keiser sixth put the game away. Iglesias provided the big moment of the nightcap with a two-run home run, her sixth of the season. Schaaf was again excellent, going 2-for-3 with a double, three RBI, and a stolen base, and Campos added two more hits, scored three times, and drove in a run. Masternak worked five innings to earn the win and improve to 17-1, and Maggie Miller came on for the final two innings to record her third save of the season.
