No. 1 Keiser men's tennis was tripped up in the semifinal of the ITA NAIA National Men's Team Indoor Championship on Saturday evening, losing to No. 3 Tennessee Wesleyan 4-1. The Seahawks won the first doubles match on court one before dropping matches on courts two and three. In singles, the Bulldogs earned wins on courts three, five, and six while Keiser did manage to get a point with a win on court one.
- Keiser struck first as the team of Didrik Liljekvist and Heber Santos defeated Lucas Grana and Lucas Perez 6-0
- Tennessee Wesleyan responded on court two, with David Leon and Nicolas Cortes winning 6-4 over Shaheed Alam and Oliver King
- Agustin Gaia and Maceo Simpson clinched the doubles point for the Bulldogs with a 7-6(11-9) tiebreak victory over Andrew Reznik and Andrej Krajcik on court three
- Santiago Russo opened the scoring on court six in singles with a dominant performance to put TWU up 2-0
- Liljekvist kept Keiser in the match with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over No. 18 Grana on court one
- Asier Pascual bested King in a three-set match on court five 6-2, 4-6, 6-1
- Cortes clinched the match for the Bulldogs with a 7-6(7-5), 6-3 win over No. 19 Felipe Rivadeneira court three
- The remaining matches on courts two and four were left unfinished
When asked about today's result, Head Coach
Ali Borhani had this to say: "The guys all fought hard and gave it their all today. Not the result we wanted, but I could not be more proud of the team and their effort tonight. We will get back to work and be back stronger from this lesson."
The Seahawks will face No. 4 Southeastern in the third-place match on Sunday, February 15. First serve is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
