No. 1 Keiser University women's swimming came up short against Division II Tampa on Friday afternoon at the Riseman Aquatic Center, 133.5-66.5. The Seahawks won four individual events and the opening relay of the meet.
Keiser returns to action against defending Division II National Champions, Nova Southeastern on Saturday, January 10. The first event of the meet is set for a 10:00 a.m. start at Lake Lytal Family Aquatic Center.
- The Seahawks drop to 2-4 in dual meets this season
- Keiser moves to 0-10 all-time against the Spartans
- Though the strokes were predetermined, the distances were not revealed until swimmers were just behind the blocks
- The meet started with a 100 Medley Relay which Keiser won with Janiszewska, Vorontsova, Bersi, and Santiago each going 25 yards in their respective strokes
- There was a loud groan when the IM event was set for 400 Yards but Bersi made the most of it to take the win
- Santiago had a phenomenal debut for KU, winning the 100 Free and 500 Free
- Vorontsova gave the crowd a possible look into the future of NAIA swimming after drawing the 50 Breast and tying for the win
- Overall, the women were a bit unlucky with the draw, hitting the max distance for the 400 IM and 200 Fly
