Keiser Ends Season with 4-3 Loss versus Southeastern

Keiser Softball was defeated today in a tightly-contested Sun Conference tournament game. The Seahawks battled with the (rv) Southeastern Fire in a back-and-forth game, losing the contest on a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Seahawks end the year with a school record 34 wins.

  • First-Team All-SUN selection Lizzy Small pitched the entire game, racking up five strikeouts in her 12th complete game of the season. (120 pitches)

  • The Seahawks fought through an exciting and turbulent game but gave up two late runs to bring their record-breaking season to an end.

  • With the bases loaded in the top of the first inning, the Fire took an early lead on a Keiser fielding error.

  • Southeastern tried to move a runner into scoring position but Kelsey Ganci threw out a runner on a stolen base attempt to end the third inning. In the top of the fourth, KU tied the game when Macy Schaaf hit a sacrifice fly to left field to bring home Rylee Miller.

  • Keiser took its first lead of the day when alert base running by Genesis Iglesias gave the Seahawks a run on a Southeastern fielding error.

  • In a wild sequence, Riley Sanders of SEU appeared to lead off the inning with a single but was called out on strikes when the home plate umpire ruled that she had stepped out of the batters box. Southeastern Head Coach Kayla Watkins came out of the dugout to debate the call, but was eventually ejected from the game. 
  • In the next at-bat, SEU hit a triple to centerfield.
  • With a runner on third, the Fire tied the game with an RBI single.

  • The Seahawks went right back to work at the plate as Genesis Iglesias led off the inning on an SEU error.
  • Ashley Bullock put Keiser back in the lead with an RBI fielder's choice.

  • Southeastern began their turn at bat with a lead-off single.
  • After another single, Keiser was able to tag out the lead runner at third base. 
  • An SEU batter walked to load the bases.
  • The Fire tied the game with an RBI single, 3-3.
