No. 5 women's lacrosse battled through freezing temperatures again on Monday afternoon, this time in Ann Arbor, Michigan where they defeated the Concordia Cardinals 18-12. The Seahawks were slow to get going through the first quarter but went on a seven-goal run to open a lead in the second. Keiser was led offensively by
Sydney Passaro who registered three assists and was one of six players with two goals for KU.
Concordia 6, Keiser, 3
- The Seahawks opened the scoring as MacKenzie Gibaud put one in the back of the net from Sydney Passaro.
- Mckenna VanZant from Concordia answered back with a goal of her own.
- With 6:50 on the clock, the Cardinals' Isabella Komarowski extended the lead.
- Not too long after, Emily McCall tied the game 2-2 with Passaro's second assist of the game.
- Concordia (Mich.) was quick to respond to regain the 3-2 lead with 4:46 to go.
- The birthday girl, Madison Andrews, drew the free position foul, and finished to take her first goal of the contest.
- In the last two minutes of the quarter, the Cardinals went on a three-goal run to take the lead, 6-3.
Keiser 8, Concordia 6
- After a slow start to the second quarter, Hayley Frew opened a scoring run for Keiser with 9:19 on the clock.
- Milena Isturiz's goal from Abbey Cannon cut the Cardinal's lead to one with 6:39 to go.
- A spin-move from Krystal Beebe landed her first goal of the game to tie the game 6-6 with 4:14 to play.
- Keiser's scoring run did not stop there as Peyton Tomlinson notched her first goal of the game with an assist from Samantha Esher to put KU in front.
- With two seconds on the clock, Haley Knudsen went top-shelf on the woman-up opportunity with Passaro adding her third assist of the half.
- The Cardinals went scoreless in the second quarter with Cassidy Green recording four saves.
Keiser 13, Concordia 10
- Frew ripped a free position shot below the legs of the goalie to open the third quarter scoring and put KU up 9-6.
- Passaro followed with her first goal of the day to extend the scoring run to seven straight.
- Concordia ended the run at the 11:55 mark with a woman-up goal to cut the lead to 10-7.
- The back-and-forth scoring would continue over the next three minutes as Keiser maintained a three-goal cushion going into the fourth.
Keiser 18, Concordia 12
- Tomlinson opened the fourth-quarter scoring with a free-poisition goal at the 12:14 mark.
- The Seahawks began to pull away as Esher, Lucy Single, and Passaro all scored to make it 17-10.
- With under three minutes to play, Concordia got a goal back before Kamille Thomas was able to net her first of the day.
- The Cardinals scored the final goal of the game, but Keiser would leave the snow with an 18-12 win.
- Keiser improves their season record to 4-4 with the win.
- KU captured the first win of the series between the two teams.
- The Seahawks are now 2-1 in road contests.
- Passaro tallied five points on the day to lead the Seahawks.
- She recorded three assists in a game for the fifth time in her career and the first time this season.
- Six different players scored two goals in the game (Frew, Esher, Isturiz, McCall, Passaro, and Tomlinson).
- Tomlinson recorded the third most draw controls in program history with 11 on the day.
- Andrews, Cannon, McCall, and Foley each had two caused turnovers in the game.
