No. 16 Men's Soccer Draws in Miami Gardens against Florida Memorial, 2-2

The No. 16-ranked Keiser men's soccer team (1-2-2) drew their second tie of the season Wednesday afternoon against Florida Memorial. The draw continues the Seahawks streak in conference play as they have yet to face a loss in the conference opener since 2018.
 
The tie leaves the Seahawks 1-2-2 on the season.


.How it Happened
  • A foul on Keiser got the game started at the two minute mark.
  • The Lions got things started early as a shot came off the cross bar of the Seahawks net.
  • As another two minutes passed, Florida Memorial found the back of the net to take the lead over Keiser.
  • In the first half, the two squads fought for possession but the Lions would remain strong and allow just two shots on goal from the Seahawks.
  • Fouls were distributed back and forth between the teams, with the Lions recording seven and the Seahawks recording six in the first half of play.
  • Things took a turn for the better for the Seahawks, as the second half of play got off to a hot start. 
  • Keiser recorded their first goal of the day at the 50th minute coming off the foot of Alessio Silva to record his second goal of the season. 
  • Malte Schmale recorded his first assist of the season with Silva's goal.
  • Within three minutes, the Seahawks took the lead when a cross from Schmale reached Elias Jassim to net his first goal of the season.
  • The Lions did not go down without a fight as they continued to put up shots against the Seahawks totaling nine shots in the second half. 
  • With just seven minutes remaining in the game, Florida Memorial would tie up the match.
  • In the last five minutes, two fouls were called on each team and Keiser recorded one shot off the boot of Malte Schmale.

  • The Seahawks record turns to 1-2-2.
  • Alessio Silva scored his second goal of the season while Elias Jassim recorded his first. 
  • Malte Schmale recorded the first two assists of his career as a Seahawk.
  • Santiago Nebot recorded seven saves on the day.
  • Six yellow cards were distributed through the afternoon match.
  • The Lions had 13 fouls called during the game, Keiser had just seven.
  • Each team recorded only one corner kick.
  • It took the Seahawks just five shots on goal to get on the board.
