No. 1 Women's Lacrosse Falls in NAIA National Tournament Semifinal to No. 5 SCAD

Game Information
Score: No. 1 Keiser 6, No. 5 SCAD 20
Records: No. 1 Keiser (16-2), No. 5 SCAD (12-5)
Location: Blue Devils Field, Southfield, Mich.

No. 1 Keiser women's lacrosse fought to the very end of their semifinal contest but it would not be enough as the No. 5 SCAD Bees proved to be too much, winning 20-6.

After the end of the tournament, Talia Myers was selected to be on the All-Tournament Team.
 
First Quarter
SCAD 6, Keiser 1
  • SCAD opened the game with a goal at the 13:06 mark to take the 1-0 lead.
  • The Bees would use the early momentum to jump out to a 6-0 lead with 5:18 left.
  • Keiser would get on the board with a free position goal by Samantha Esher with 4:55 remaining in the first.

Second Quarter
SCAD 11, Keiser 4
  • The Seahawks carried the momentum into the second quarter with Esher tallying her second goal of the game with 13:37 on the clock.
  • Just over a minute later, MacKenzie Gibaud got on the board to cut the lead down to 6-3.
  • Milena Isturiz continued the run with a woman-up, free position goal with 10:37 showing.
  • Clarke Haas would end the Keiser run with her third goal of the game at the 9:56 mark.
  • SCAD would once again go on a run, scoring five unanswered to finish the half with an 11-4 lead. 

Third Quarter
SCAD 17, Keiser 4
  • The Bees opened the second half with a draw control win into a goal after just 15 seconds of play.
  • The remainder of the quarter would be all SCAD as the Bees continued their scoring stretch with five more goals in the quarter.  

Fourth Quarter
SCAD 20, Keiser 6
  • SCAD continued to score through the beginning of the fourth, adding two goals in the first four minutes of the quarter and extending the lead to 19-4.
  • Keiser did not quit on the game, and Talia Myers scored at the 6:19 mark.
  • Esher followed with her hat trick goal with 4:19 remaining to make it 19-6.
  • The Bees scored the final goal of the game to make it 20-6 and advance to the NAIA National Championship.

KU Highlights
  • 8: Cassidy Green stopped eight shots in net for the Seahawks which was the second-most in her career.
  • 3: Keiser converted each of their free-position shots with Gibaud, Esher, and Isturiz all converting.
  • 3: Esher led the offensive attack on the day with her sixth hat trick of the season.
  • 3/1: Myers led the way in the circle with three draw controls and tallied the lone assist in the game for the Seahawks.
  • 2: Isturiz recorded two caused turnovers in the contest to lead KU.
  • 2: Hayley Frew and Myers each had two groundballs in the game.
  • 4-3: Keiser falls to 5-3 all time in the NAIA postseason, 1-2 in semifinal games.
