No. 1 Women's Lacrosse Uses Big Fourth Quarter to Hold Off Webber International, 12-10

Trailing for the first time this season heading into the fourth quarter, No. 1 Keiser women's lacrosse responded with four unanswered goals to take home their third Sun Conference win of the year, 12-10.

 
First Quarter
Keiser 4, Webber 2
  • Abbey Cannon opened the scoring with her 19th goal of the season just over two minutes into the game.
  • Less than two minutes later, Talia Myers doubled the advantage for the Seahawks.
  • The Warriors tallied their first of the day with 9:42 left in the first to cut the lead down to one.
  • Keiser countered with a free position goal courtesy of Milena Isturiz with 6:07 still to play in the first.
  • The nations leading scorer, Bryce Gerber got on the board less than 30 seconds later to bring the score to 3-2 in favor of KU.
  • Keiser's leading scorer, Myers tallied her second of the day on a pass from Samantha Esher to give the Seahawks a 4-2 lead heading into the second.

Second Quarter
Keiser 7, Webber 4
  • Gerber tallied her second of the day to open the second quarter scoring and cut the lead back down to one with 12:12 showing.
  • With 4:49 on the clock, Myers completed her hat trick to make it a 5-3 lead for Keiser.
  • Gerber followed one minute later with her hat trick goal for Webber.
  • Keiser would give a late push in the half with MacKenzie Gibaud tallying two goals in the final 40 seconds of action to give the Seahawks a 7-4 lead going into the break.

Third Quarter
Webber 9, Keiser 8
  • After a slow start to the quarter, Webber scored three goals in the span of two minutes including two woman-down goals to tie the game at 7-7 with 7:04 on the clock.
  • Webber would not be done scoring as the Warriors would tally back-to-back goals to take the 9-7 lead with two minutes to play in the third.
  • Chloe Foley would stop the run with six seconds left to play in the third to cut the lead down to 9-8 in favor of the Warriors heading into the fourth.

Fourth Quarter
Keiser 12, Webber 10
  • Foley carried the momentum into the fourth, tying the game at 9-9 after two minutes.
  • Cannon took back the lead for the Seahawks with 8:41 on the clock after wrapping around the goal before finding the back of the net.
  • Shortly after, Emily McCall gave Keiser some insurance with a double spin move before rocketing a shot passed the keeper to make it 11-9.
  • With under three minutes to play, Cannon found Isturiz in front of the net who extended the lead to 12-9 for the Seahawks.
  • Webber would get a goal back with two minutes to play but Keiser would win the ensuing draw control and hold out possession for the remainder of the game.

KU Highlights
  • 43: The Seahawks outshot Webber by a total of 43-20 on the day.
  • 7/6: Cassidy Green earned her seventh win in net with six saves.
  • 6: KU moves to 6-0 all-time against Webber in the series.
  • 5: Isturiz and McCall each grabbed five draw controls in the contest for Keiser.
  • 5: M. Myers was a force on defense, recording four caused turnovers to lead the team.
  • 4/2: Cannon led the Seahawks in points on the day with four on two goals and two assists.
  • 3: T. Myers tallied her sixth hat trick of the year needing just one half to complete it.
  • 2: Five different players recorded two groundballs in the game for the Seahawks.
