No. 1 men's soccer started the 2022 season off on the right foot after a 6-1 win over Lawrence Technological University Friday afternoon. Despite three lightening delays, the Seahawks came out on top with six goals from six different players. 


.How it Happened
  • The Seahawks started off slow while possession remained with the Blue Devils for the first 11 minutes of the match. 
  • A corner kick by Charlie Hennen would start things off for the Seahawks with a header from Rodrigo Montez Silva in the 21st minute (1-0).
  • Eight minutes later, Hennen added a second assist with a goal from Rui Reis (2-0).
  • After the first half, the Seahawks did not hold back with four goals. 
  • Elias Jassim added to the action with a goal for a 3-0 Seahawks lead.
  • The Blue Devils lone goal was scored at the 58th minute (3-1).
  • Jack Casey added to the Seahawks lead with a goal at the 66th minute with an assist from Fernando Abreu. (4-1).
  • After a foul on Lawrence Tech in the 78th minute, Alejandro Varela Sabio took advantage of the penalty kick and added to Keiser's lead (5-1). 
  • With two minutes remaining in the game, Alexander Stéen found the back of the net for his first goal of the season making for a final score of 6-1.
  • Keiser would remain on the offensive half of the field during the second half, totaling 25 shots, 14 on goal. 

Game Notes
  • The Defending National Champions start of the season with a 1-0 record. 
  • Rui Reis makes his first appearance as a Seahawk and scores his first goal of the season. 
  • Six different players tailed goals for the Seahawks. 
  • Despite one goal, Santiago Nebot Oliver had a quiet day in net.
  • Keiser totaled 25 shots, 14 on goal.
