The No. 5 Keiser men's soccer team blanked No. 18 Mobile, 1-0, in their 2021 season opener Friday evening.


.How it Happened
  • Mobile nearly got on the board first in the fifth minute, as Alejo Binaghi's shot hit the top of the crossbar and was cleared out of danger by the Seahawks defense.
  • The Rams had another chance to score the first goal in the 14th minute but were called offsides.
  • Keiser struck in the 30th minute, as junior Cristobal Molina Campo notched the first goal of the 2021 season, converting a free kick from 25-yards out.
  • Mobile had a trio of opportunities to tie the contest in the final two minutes but Felipe Godoy came up with three huge saves to preserve the 1-0 shutout victory.  

Game Notes
  • The Seahawks are 10-4-3 all-time in season openers having outscored their opponents 69-18.
  • Head Coach Gavin Oldham has led KU to five straight season-opening wins.
  • Keiser now leads the all-time series with Mobile, 4-3.
  • These two teams faced each other last year in NAIA Opening Round Championship game, with KU winning 1-0.
  • KU used five new players on the evening with four of them earning starts in their debut.
  • Godoy recorded five saves and earned the shutout, playing all 90 minutes in goal for his sixth career blank slate.
  • Alvaro Jimenez Valera finished with a team-high three shots.
