No. 4 Women's Lacrosse Earns Road Win at Montevallo in Season Opener, 16-8

Cat Raymond and Se'Anna Beikirch each recorded a hat trick as the No. 4 Keiser women's lacrosse team opened their 2020 season with a 16-8 win over Montevallo University Sunday afternoon.

First Half
Keiser 7, Montevallo 4
  • After Montevallo jumped out to the early 1-0 lead, Beikirch netted the opening goal of the 2020 campaign on an assist from Melanie Brown with 26:43 remaining in the half.
  • Cat Raymond gave Keiser their first lead of the season with 20:25 remaining in the first period, but the Falcons answered with two straight goals, reclaiming a 3-2 advantag with 14:42 to go.
  • After trading goals, the Seahawks tallied the final four scores of the half to lead 7-4. In that stretch, Leanza Gibaud recorded her first collegiate goal. 

Second Half
Keiser 16, Montevallo 8
  • The Falcons tallied the opening goal of the second period but the Seahawks answered with a 6-0 run to extend their lead to 13-5 with 11:25 remaining.
  • During the run, Beikirch tallied her third goal of the contest to complete the hat-trick.
  • Montevallo netted the next two goals to cut the Keiser lead to 13-7 with 8:08 left but goals by Raymond and Dakota Zdun extended the KU lead to 15-7 with 6:25 to go in the contest.
  • Raymond's goal was her fourth of the afternoon.
  • The teams traded the final two goals of the contest with Bridget Reddington netting the final score of the afternoon for the Seahawks with 3:25 left in the game.
