Key Play
Miller's double in the seventh inning was the difference in the contest, as the senior drove in three runs to give the Seahawks a 4-0 advantage.
Â
How it Happened
- In the first, Warner nearly took the lead with two runners in scoring position an-out, but Lutz retired the next two batters to keep the game scoreless.
- The game remained a stalemate until the fifth when a two-out fielding error on the Royals allowed Northway to score for a 1-0 advantage.
- Keiser then broke the game open in the seventh with four runs on four hits and one error.
- Megan Carver led off with a single to right-center and moved to second on a Mueller sacrifice bunt. After Northway reached on an error by the pitcher, she immediately stole second, and Test followed with a single to short to load the bases.
- Miller then emptied the bases with a huge double to left-center as the Seahawks advantage grew to 4-0. Following a fly out to right, Ostrander ripped a double to right-center as the Keiser now led 5-0.
- Warner wouldn't go down easily as they loaded the bases with two-outs. An error on Green and a single to third allowed two runs to cross the plate as the margin shrunk to 5-2.
- However, Green got Shell to strike out looking as the Seahawks earned the doubleheader split, 5-2.Â
