How it Happened
- Freed-Hardeman jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the second as Crawford battled through a ten-pitch at-bat before connecting on a two-run home run to left.
- The Seahawks threatened in the fourth with the bases loaded and one-out but Ally Thompson grounded into an inning ending 5-2-3 double play.
- In the fifth, Heather Mueller drilled a one-out double to left-center and moved to third on a grounder to short. Following a walk to Test, Miller singled to third and after beating out the throw at first, Mueller took off for home but was thrown out at the plate.
- The Lions added a run in the fifth with an RBI fielder's choice as the Seahawks tried to complete an inning ending double-play as the margin grew to 3-0.
- Keiser caught a spark in the seventh as Janelle Dominguez lined a one-double to the right-center gap. After a fly-out to left, Larissa Ostrander singled to left as the Seahawks now had runners on the corners.
- Test then delivered the only run of the game for KU as she singled to short, scoring Dominguez. However, Ostrander was caught too far off second base as she rounded it for the final out of the game as KU fell, 3-1.
