The Keiser men's soccer team fell to the Crusaders of William Carey, 3-1, in the opening round on Saturday evening. William Carey scored three goals in the second half to eliminate the Seahawks from the NAIA National Tournament.
How it Happened
- The Seahawks struck first in the eighth minute as Ciro Damine dribbled through the defense and shot to the far post for the 1-0 lead.
- Damine nearly doubled the margin in the 29th minute but his shot was saved by the Crusader goalkeeper.
- The score remained the same heading into the half, despite Keiser outshooting William Carey, 5-0.
- The Crusaders evened the score in the 47th minute as Clairy Kengeye scored on a feed from Pablo Varela Vasquez Fraga.
- With Keiser playing a man-down since the 49th minute, William Carey took a 2-1 lead in the 61st minute as Juan Ruiz Cabello found Thierry Zabarel in the box for the score.
- The Crusaders extended their lead in the 85th minute as Tim Doherty scored on a pass from Varela Vasquez Fraga, winning 3-1.
