No. 22 Men's Soccer Falls to Southeastern in TSC Opener, 4-2

The Keiser men's soccer team dropped their first conference match of the season to Southeastern on Wednesday afternoon by a final of 4-2. The Seahawks have now scored at least one goal in every match played this season.

Stat of the Match
Southeastern scored four goals on 15 shots, ten of which were on frame, while KU had 15 shots but just three on target.

How it Happened
  • Amine Meski volleyed a pass from Gontazal Balaguer to the far corner in the ninth minute for the games first goal.
  • Four minutes later, the Fire grabbed the equalizer as Jake Van Der Luit scored off a through ball from Craig Baker to make it 1-1.
  • Southeastern took their first lead in the 13th minute, as Van Der Luit scored his second goal of the game off a one-touch pass from Jonathan Jimenez.
  • SEU made it a two-goal game just 1:26 into the half as Julian Hall ripped an absolute laser into the back of the net from 25-yards out.
  • A minute later, Ciro Damine tallied a goal of his own off a pass from Hannu Tam to get within 3-2 of the Fire.
  • Keiser had a chance to tie the game in 67th minute but Cristobal Molina's header went just above the crossbar and out of play.
  • Southeastern took away any momentum that KU was mounting as AJ Davis headed the ball just over the keeper in the 73rd minute to make it 4-2.
  • Keiser had one last scoring chance in the 88th minute but Damine was unable to get his foot on the ball off a cross from the right side of the box.
     
Game Notes
  • The Seahawks and Fire have met 19 times after today's match, with the Seahawks leading the way with 13 wins and outscoring the Fire, 46-19.
  • Keiser checks in at No. 22 in the latest National Poll, which equals their highest ranking since October 9-15, 2012.
  • With Damine's lone goal today, the freshman has scored the fourth most goals in a season with 14.
