No. 3 Seahawks Soar Past Spartans on Senior Day

Match Summary
The No. 3 Keiser Men's Tennis team cruised to its ninth 9-0 victory of the spring, this time over Missouri Baptist on Monday afternoon at Oxbridge Academy. Today's match also served as Senior Day for Shaquille Taylor.
 
Doubles
  • Bastien Sorg and Taylor began the match with an 8-2 triumph over Ricardo Martin and James Tobin in the No. 1 doubles position.
  • Arthur Bonnaud and Francesco Oliva then doubled the Keiser lead to 2-0 after defeating Dylan Walker and Sean Nanney, 8-2.
  • The final doubles win was provided by No. 12 Julian Turosienski and Romai Ugarte in the No. 2 doubles slot, besting Lucas Oliveira and Nicoy Rolle, 8-4.
 
Singles
  • Sorg pulled the Seahawks to within one of clinching the match after his 6-2, 6-0 singles victory to start singles play in the No. 2 slot.
  • No. 28 Sebastian Penaloza clinched the match for the Seahawks after his 6-3, 6-1 win over Oliveira in the No. 1 singles position to secure win number 15 for Keiser.
  • The Seahawks won the final four singles bouts, including Taylor defeating Rolle in the No. 6 singles position, 6-2, 6-0.
 
Coach's Corner
"The men did a great job today of controlling themselves and staying focused," stated head coach Daniel Finn. "This has been a hard stretch of matches that tested the boys both mentally and physically. I am proud to see the level of competitiveness and will to win that they have shown. They will get some well-deserved rest before the next match in a couple of weeks."
 
Up Next
The Seahawks will not return to the court for 15 days as Keiser will compete against Huntingdon College on March 28 at 1 p.m. in Orlando, Fla.
