Men's Soccer Falls to Top Seeded Oklahoma Wesleyan in NAIA Second Round

The No. 16 Keiser University men's soccer team fell to top overall seed Oklahoma Wesleyan 3-0 in the second round of the NAIA National tournament. The Seahawks conclude the year with an 8-6-1 overall record under first-year coach Gavin Oldham.

Turning Point
The turning point this evening was the early strike by Oklahoma Wesleyan in the fourth minute of the game.
How it Happened
  • Oklahoma Wesleyan struck just four minutes into the contest when Alberto Picchi scored off an assist by Julio Belo.
  • The Eagles stretched their advantage to 2-0 in the ninth minute after Stefan Milicevic beat the keeper off a pass by Stefan Lukic.
  • Thomas Dawson laced a shot from 30 yards out to the far post in the 32nd minute but his shot was saved by a diving Dusan Djordjev.
  • KU had the first opportunity of the second half in the 55th minute when Jake Stanton was one-on-one with the keeper but his shot was saved.
  • OWU capped the scoring in the 77th minute after Alex Lonzao found the back of the net off a cross by Eric Rubio.
 
Game Notes
  • The Seahawks are now 2-4-2 overall in their five appearances in the national tournament.
  • Amine Meski and Dawson led the Seahawks with two shots apiece.
  • Nicolas Gomez got the start the in goal and made three saves.
