The Keiser University men's soccer team started conference play with a 3-2 home victory over Warner University. The Seahawks improved to 3-3 overall and 1-0 in TSC play.
Turning Point
Reece Weldon was taken down in the box in the 58th minute and then stepped up and scored the penalty kick retaking a 2-1 advantage.
How it Happened
- The Seahawks got on the board with just ten minutes left in the first half when Ahmet Brown scored his first career goal off a corner kick by Weldon to lead 1-0.
- Warner equalized just one minute later on a penalty kick goal by Tevonne Morris making it 1-1.
- Weldon scored his fifth goal of the year in the 48th minute to go in front 2-1.
- After a Royals giveaway in the middle of the field, Aaron Molloy played a through ball to Weldon who beat the keeper to the near post, pushing the lead to 3-1.
- The Royals grabbed the last goal of the game in the 69th minute when Reggie Jean-Baptiste scored a nice header off a corner.
Game Notes
- This is the first time the Seahawks have used the same starting lineup in two consecutive games.
- Keiser held a 9-3 advantage on shots in the first half and a 21-6 edge in the game.
- The men have won their opening Sun Conference game dating back to 2013.
- Lee Clark picked up the win in goal making one save.
