The #6 Keiser University men's tennis team defeated #11 William Carey 5-1 in the Second Round of the NAIA National Tournament. The Seahawks advance to play the winner of Xavier and Westmont tomorrow afternoon in the quarterfinals.
Arthur Bonnaud and
Nicolas Guerschanik gave the Seahawks an early 1-0 lead after their 8-3 win in third doubles. William Carey answered right back knotting the match up with an 8-4 win over the #1 tandem of
Rafael Lenz and
Shaquille Taylor. However,
Martin Martins and
Guilherme Cunha came from 4-7 down to win 9-7, giving Keiser a 2-1 advantage heading into singles.
Lenz upped the margin to 3-1 with his 6-1, 6-1 win at #3 and
Ignacio Osse put the Seahawks within a point of winning the match with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at #6. Undefeated freshmen, Bonnaud won the match 5-1 with his 6-4, 6-1 victory in the fourth spot.
