Match Recap: No. 3 Men's Tennis |

#6 Men's Tennis Takes Down #21 Warner 6-2

The #6 Seahawks men's tennis team clinched a share of the Sun Conference regular season championship with their 6-2 win over #21 Warner on Saturday afternoon. Keiser improved to 15-2 overall and 5-0 in Sun Conference play.

Keiser struck first with the #3 doubles pair of Nicolas Guerschanik and Shaquille Taylor winning 8-3, but Warner tied it at 1-1 when Rafael Lenz and Arthur Bonnaud fell 8-5 in the top doubles spot.  However, the Seahawks regained a 2-1 advantage with a Martin Martins and Guilherme Cunha 8-4 win at the second spot.

The Royals knotted the match at 2-2 when Guerschanik fell 6-2, 6-2 in the top singles spot. Martins quickly put Keiser back in front 3-2 with his 6-4, 6-3 win and Bonnaud remained perfect in singles play by winning 6-2, 6-1 pushing the lead to 4-2.

The next two matches would be retired by the Royals with Taylor leading at #5 6-3, 2-1 and Lenz up 4-6, 6-4, 4-2. The number six singles would not be played with the Seahawks coming away with the 6-2 win.

Head Coach Daniel Finn said, "I am definitely proud of the energy that the boys brought today. They have each others back and always compete for one another. Today was a good way to send the seniors out with winning over a nationally ranked team. We got one more conference match coming up which will be a big one in Savannah. But first we will have another big match against Barry next week that we will have to get ready for."

Keiser returns to the court on Tuesday when they travel to NCAA Division II Barry for a 4:00 p.m. match.
