Men's Soccer Advances to the Sun Conference Semifinals

The Keiser University men's soccer team defeated Southeastern 1-0 in the Sun Conference quarterfinals this afternoon at home. The Seahawks advance to the play the top seed and reigning Sun Conference Regular Season champions Thomas Nighthawks on Tuesday.

Turning Point
In a game where weather was a huge factor with torrential rain throughout; Amine Meski netted the lone goal in the 63rd minute off a long throw and miss clearance by a Fire defender.

How it Happened
  • Neither team could get anything going in the first half with Southeastern holding a slim 4-2 advantage on shots.
  • Meski ended the scoreless game in the 63rd minute with his blast to the upper left corner of the goal for the 1-0 lead.
  • Alex Babiolakis had a chance to seal the game in the 74th minute but his shot went off the cross bar and was cleared by a defender.
 
Game Notes
  • This is the second straight season that the Seahawks have advanced to the Sun Conference semifinals.
  • Keiser is now 2-0 on the season against the Fire and avenged their semifinal loss a season ago.
  • Lee Clark has now recorded three shutouts on the season.
  • Thomas Dawson had a game high three shots.
  • The Seahawks held an 8-6 edge on shots.
