The No. 5 Keiser University men's soccer team fell to Grand View 3-0 in the Second Round of the NAIA National Tournament. The Seahawks conclude the 2016 season with an 8-6-4 overall record.
Turning Point
Grand View broke the scoreless game in the 56
th minute when Danton Irelan collected a through ball from Sam Blackman to lead 1-0.
How it Happened
- The Seahawks had a 3 on 1 breakaway in the 23rd minute but were unable to get a shot on frame.
- A free kick in the 32nd minute from Aaron Molloy just outside the box went off the wall and narrowly rolled past the keeper but the game remained scoreless.
- The Viking's Blackman scored the first goal of the game in 56th minute on a shot to the far post.
- Thomas Dawson ripped a ball from 30 yards out in the 60th minute but the keeper was able to dive across the box and make the save.
- Grand View made it 2-0 in the 79th minute on a counter attack goal by Sam Blackman and then sealed the game with a third two minutes later by Danton Irelan.
Game Notes
- The Seahawks are now 2-3-2 overall in their five appearances in the tournament.
- Keiser will lose seven players to graduation.
- Nicolas Gomez had a season high seven saves in goal which was also a team high.
