The #12 men's tennis team took down #21 Indiana Wesleyan 7-2 in the opening round of the NAIA National Tournament on Tuesday.
David Uquillas and Martin Martins picked up the first point of the day in second doubles 8-5, and Alvaro Iturriaga and Rafael Lenz matched that same score, for the second point. However, the Wildcats prevented the sweep pulling out a hard fought 9-7 win in the third spot.
In singles, Lenz racked up the first point in the third spot with a 6-2, 6-0 win andIgnacio Osse sealed the victory with his 6-3, 6-0 score in the fifth place. Iturriaga, Uquillas and Martins also racked up wins in their single matches.
Northwood advances to play #5 Lindsey Wilson tomorrow in the second round. The match is set to begin at 9:00 a.m.
