The men's tennis team won 7-2, while the women fell 8-1 to SCAD in their Sun Conference openers on Saturday afternoon.
The men got off to an to early 2-1 lead with doubles wins by Alvaro Iturriaga and Nicolas Guerschani in tie breakers 8-7 (4-0) while Rafael Lenz and David Uquillas shutout their opponents 8-0. In singles five Seahawks won their matches led by Lenz's 6-0, 6-1 win. Iturriga won 6-2, 6-3, Uquillas 6-3, 6-1, Ignacio Osse 6-4, 6-2, and Guilherme Cuhna 6-3, 6-4.
On the women's side, Rocia Merlo and Matilde Thibadult won in second doubles 9-7. In singles, Thibadult dropped the first set 6-0, before taking the second 6-3, but losing the third closely at 6-3. Merlo also lost the first set 6-2, but won the second 6-4, and a tough third set 10-8. Julia Cusumano also had a close match, taking the first set 6-3, but lost the next two 6-3, 10-4.
The men's team improves to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in Sun Conference play, while the women fall to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in conference.
Both teams get back to the court on Friday when they travel to take on Warner. The matches are set for 1:00 p.m.
