DELRAY BEACH, FL.---The Northwood University men's soccer team had their NAIA tournament run come to an end on Wednesday afternoon. The Seahawks fell to the University of Texas at Brownsville 4-0 in their quarterfinal contest.
The Seahawks had the game's first threat when Christian Costilla shot was saved in the 19th minute. However, the Ocelots found the back of the net twice during the half taking a 2-0 lead into the break. Northwood held a 7-4 edge on shots and 3-1 on corner kicks.
University of Texas at Brownsville tacked on two more goals in the second half to win the game 4-0. The Seahawks outshot their opponents 7-4 with Theo Stamatopoulos leading the way with three shots, two coming on goal. Shoval Failer and Costilla were close behind with two shots apiece. Mark Dawson took the loss in goal.
Northwood has their season come to an end with a 9-5-3 overall record.
Mark Hanlon was named to the National Championship All-Tournament Team for his efforts during the week.
