Terri Knecht

Terri Knecht is entering her sixth season as the Head Coach of the Keiser softball team. Knecht has led the Seahawks to three Sun Conference tournament appearances during her tenure.

Knecht’s Knowledge
  • 80-88 in five seasons but had to forfeit her entire first season in charge of the program
  • Led the Seahawks to three straight Sun Conference tournaments
  • Coached 10 All-Conference players and two NAIA All-Americans
  • Off the field, KU has 10 Academic All-Conference honorees and six NAIA Scholar Athletes
  • In 2019, Keiser set the program record for wins in a season with 27
2021
  • Posted a 20-22 overall record and 12-12 mark in conference games
  • Led the Seahawks to their third straight Sun Conference tournament
  • Coached three All-Conference players
  • Posted a 10-4 record on the road
  • Notched three wins against Top 25 teams including a sweep of No. 23 Southeastern on the road
  • Had three players received Academic All-Conference honors

2020
  • The Seahawks were 10-4 overall when the season was cancelled on 3/16/20 due to CoVID 19 Virus
  • Swept their lone Sun Conference series against Southeastern
  • Started the year on a seven game winning streak
  • Posted an 8-0 mark at home during the campaign
  • Knocked off No. 23 Houston-Victoria 8-4 in Orange Beach, Ala.

2019
  • Led Keiser to a 27-21 overall record and a 13-11 mark in conference games
  • Aided in four All-Conference players; including three on the First Team
  • Off the field, KU had two Academic All-Conference and two NAIA Scholar Athletes
  • The Seahawks advanced to the conference tournament for the first time in back-to-back seasons
  • The team set numerous records this past season including; victories (27), shutouts (8), highest batting average (.343, strikeouts (180), and hits per game (9.50)
  • Keiser’s longest winning streak this season was eight, the longest in program history
  • Coached Autumn Green to the most wins by a pitcher in one season, 22. In addition, she recorded six shutouts, the most in one year
  • Avery Miller set the program record for doubles in a season with 20 and Lexi Northway tied the stolen base record with 41

2018
  • Guided the Seahawks to a 23-21 overall record and a 9-15 mark in TSC games
  • Helped Keiser to their first appearance in the conference tournament since 2012
  • Knocked off four teams inside the NAIA Coaches Top 25 poll
  • Defeated No. 14 Warner in the tournament opener, 4-1, their first tournament victory since 2006
  • Coached the first back-to-back NAIA All-American in program history
  • Coached two TSC All-Conference players, one NAIA All-American, three TSC Academic All-Conference recipients, and two NAIA Scholar Athletes
  • Aided in Kelsey Brodbeck setting the stolen base record with 41 on the campaign

2017
  • Won the season opener for the first time in program history with an 11-0 victory over Trinity Baptist
  • Coached an NAIA All-American and two All-Conference players. In addition, she had one Gold Glove winner at first base
  • Keiser topped the NAIA in steal attempts per game (3.37) and was second in throwing runners out per game
  • The Seahawks ended the year with a school-best 114 stolen bases
  
Pre-Keiser
Knecht began her coaching career as an Assistant Coach at the University South Carolina for a season before moving on to be an Assistant for the University of Indiana for three seasons.
 
Knecht’s first head coaching position came at Santa Fe Community for eight seasons and then spent ten at SCAD-Savannah. After the Bees program was discontinued, Knecht went on to Yavapi College for two seasons.  During Knecht’s career, she has coached 42 All-Conference players, 19 All-Americans, 10 Pitcher and Player of the Year's, and 29 Academic All-Americans.
 
Personal
Knecht earned her Associates Degree from Crowder College before receiving her Bachelor’s Degree at Pittsburgh State University. She then obtained her Master’s Degree in Sports Psychology from Oklahoma State University.
