It was a special day for the Keiser University baseball program as starting pitcher Steven Bruce was signed by the Texas Rangers. This is the first Seahawk player to be signed on by a professional baseball team.

Bruce a recent graduate of Keiser University and a native of Flower Mound, Texas transferred to the Seahawks from Northwood Texas and Oklahoma. In his two years with the team, Steven was a combined 16-0 in 22 starts with one complete game, while striking out 137 batters over 146 innings pitched.

This season as the ace, Bruce went a perfect 9-0 with a 2.73 ERA and 92 strikeouts. Steven is also a two time First Team All-Conference selection, First Team All-American, and the reigning Sun Conference Pitcher of the Year.

Head Coach Jeremy Kennedy said on Bruce being signed, "I couldn't be happier for Steven. He has a great story and he has worked hard to earn this opportunity. I cant wait to watch the next chapter of his life with the Rangers. He is exactly what we want our program to be about. Someone taking full advantage of an opportunity."
