Rebecka Holmstrom (74-80-72) and Sabrina Schloo (76-78-72) finished tied for fifth together at ten over 226. Bri LaFoca came in a tie for 14th (81-76-79) with a score of 236.
After the rounds completed, Northwood's Elsa Westin was named Sun Conference Player of the Year. Head Coach Brandon Miller was named Sun Conference Coach of the Year. Also handed out was All-Conference honors going to Elsa Westin, Rebecka Holmstrom, Sabrina Schloo, and Caroline Retabi.
Head Coach Brandon Miller said, "It has been an amazing season. It feels really great to top it off with our first Conference Championship since 2011 and to have it at our home course, the Fountains Country Club makes it even sweeter. It was great to have so much support from our athletic department and golf team alumni. I can't say enough good things about our entire team.Coach Yi has been great all season with on course coaching, her knowledge of golf and her ability to relate to the team during the round is phenomenal."
"Elsa has had a historic year, she has been in contention every tournament all year, to play that consistent is incredible. She is very deserving of the Player of the Year award. Caroline has stepped up big time this spring, she finished only two shots off the lead this week at the Conference Championship, I know myself and the entire team couldn't be happier to see her having so much success this semester."
"Rebecka and Sabrina have been solid all year long, for them both to come in with a clutch even par round today was exactly what the team score needed to secure the win. All four of them are very deserving of All Conference honors. Bri is our only senior on the team and her leadership on the course and in the classroom has been invaluable all year; it's amazing how deep and strong our conference has become. Bri is an All-American and has had a great season, it's tougher to make All Sun Conference than to make All American."
"Since you can only play five players in the NAIA postseason, I have to mention the depth on our roster. This win belongs to all of our team, not only the five who played this week. We have great players who didn't suit up this week, but them pushing each other in practice and in qualifying every day is what makes our team so strong. Paulina and Micaela are 2014 All Americans, and if they were able to play in the tournament they would certainly compete with the top of the leader board. Gen's tournament stroke average is in the 70's on the season, Emma is a very talented player who could very well be in our lineup all next season when she recovers from injury. Anna is a 2014 All Conference player and has experience in two National Championships and Fariza transferred from Texas to finish her degree, she has had amazing success in her college golf career as an All American and great finishes in top NAIA and NCAA fields."
"I don't think there is a deeper more talented team in the country, it makes me very proud to coach this group. This win definitely belongs to everyone on the roster. We will take a day to celebrate and then we are getting back to work for the NAIA National Championship in Savannah, GA later in May."
With the championship win, the Seahawks receive an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship in Savanna, Georgia. The Tournament is being played at Savannah Quarters from May 12-15.
